Book Study is a series of still life photographs exploring the relationship between time and memory through organic forms. Each image was constructed by arranging dried fragments of plants and flowers atop blank journal pages. Just like once vivid memories, these plants have dried up and wilted, but are still preserved as the natural shapes that fill these journal pages, like remembrances of former glories. Sometimes a single stem fills the page, other times a haphazard mix of plants spill out of the frame, seemingly in chaos, allowing the viewer to associate a variety of emotional recollections within the forms. The blank journal backdrop on which these plants rest, plays with the form of both the botanical journal and the personal diary, leaving space for the viewer's memories and associations.
